BPE staff show their support for charity bike ride
On Friday 13th June, four senior staff members from Gloucestershire law firm BPE Solicitors will begin their epic ten day charity bike ride from Luxembourg to Budapest to raise funds for The Footprints Foundation. And to show their support, staff staying put at the firm’s base in Cheltenham are planning to match the cyclists mile for mile on exercise bikes set up in the office.
The bikes, generously loaned by the firm's client PureGym, will be set up in the reception of St James’ House in central Cheltenham, and so far 33 staff members have signed up to cycle in one hour slots, with the aim of collectively cycling for 50 hours over the working week to hit the target of 850 miles.
Anna Wood, Associate Solicitor at BPE, who came up with the idea said: “We wanted to show some support for the team, and what better way than trying to match them mile for mile! It will be a tough challenge, and we hope the support of their colleagues will spur them on even more. We will have fundraising buckets set up next to the bikes, so hopefully we can help them to reach their fundraising target at the same time.”
Senior Partner John Workman, along with Partners Tim Williams, Jon Close and Chief Operating Officer Adrian Peake have been training hard for their ambitious challenge, which will see them cycle through five different European countries.
The venture is to raise money for The Footprints Foundation; a charity which aims to tackle the problems and issues facing disadvantaged and vulnerable people, as well those with significant health issues and BPE are hoping to reach their target of £20,000 through their combined cycling efforts.
The cycling four have been writing a blog documenting their training experiences so far, and are planning to continue to update it once they have set off on the gruelling trip.
To achieve their goal, the team at BPE need your support, so please dig deep and help them to raise money for a worthy cause. To donate, visit their JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/BPELuxembourgtoBudapestBikeRidejune2014
